In the early days of the balkan conflict, there was an atmosphere of hopelessness among Croatians who were seeing their dreams of independance dashed by a Serbian leadership that was prepared to use the full might of the JNA (Yugoslav People’s Army) to grab as much Croatian territory as possible and perhaps prevent the breakup of Yugoslavia altogether. Lightly armed Croatian militia on the front lines were being decimated by aerial and armored aults on their positions, and towns and villages fell to JNA advances on a daily basis. It was hard and brutal fighting, and victories against Serbian attacks were rare. Morale , both of the public and militia, was very low.
On September 21, 1991, two JNA J-1 Jastreb light strike fighters were shot down over the Dalmatian town of Šibenik in the space of a few seconds. Hundreds of people watched it happen, and to top it off, a TV journalist caught the whole event on videotape. The first Jastreb that went down was hit by a shoulder-launched SAM, and seconds later the second plane was caught by AAA fire and went down in flames. A Croatian soldier standing close to the cameraman could be heard joyfully shouting the now famous words: “Oba dva! Oba su pala!” (”Both of them! Both of them fell!”).
Croatian TV wasted no time in broadcasting the footage on Croatian television, and the whole country watched in amazement. The effect on morale was electrifying, especially since JNA overflights and aerial bombing were much reduced afterwards. As TV Zagreb showed the incredible footage over and over again, the myth of Serbian military invincibility was smashed. There was even a pop song made called “Oba Dva!”.

Some types of debts are not dischargeable in the US such as student loan debts. Some are easily discharged such as credit card debt. How does a bankruptcy in the Rep of Ireland affect foreign debts?
NO EFFECT AT ALL BOTH DIFFERENT COUNTRIES WITH NO CONNECTIONS IN THIS TYPE OF THING AT ALL
NO COUNTRY CAN IMPOSE ANY LAW IN ANOTHER COUNTRY
IF YOU BANKRUPT IN ONE COUNTRY YOU WILL STILL OWE MONEY IN THE OTHER

If you’re Albanian at all
Protecting human rights
Air strikes and firefights
And we’ll be dropping our bombs
Wherever Serbian bad guys hide
Just up from Kosovo
Somalia, Grenada,
Or rescuing Kuwait-a
We screwed ya Rwanda
Wish we coulda helped ya
Iraqi embargo
That’s where we got hustled
Ooo so now we’re helping out in Kosovo
We’ll kiss some and then we’ll see how it goes
And then we really don’t know
Good luck to Kosovo

Every time we go
To little places like Kosovo
We never really know
What happens after we go
Tough luck for Kosovo

My husband and I are traveling to Ireland this summer. I am trying to figure out how long it will take to drive around Ireland, starting and ending in Dublin.
I recently did a trip similar to what you are describing. Started in Dublin, staying Thursday through Sunday. Left Sunday afternoon and worked our way to the west coast (Connemara, Dingle, Galway, Kerry Co. etc), down through Cork to Waterford, Wexford and back up to Dublin…did it all in 16 total days.
We saw quite a bit, took our time (stopping often) and stopped every night around 5 to find a B&B, some dinner and of course a nice pub or two for a good craic. We had no reservations anywhere or a specific itinerary, we just knew places we wanted to see and visit. I would do the trip all over again in a second; am I'm hoping to soon. I wouldn't try to do the driving from Dublin to Dublin (12 days) in anything less than 9…too much to see and do.
The best advice I can give is to keep in mind the maps are very deceiving. It may say that your next stop is only 45km away and logic would say that would be about a 30 minute drive or less. That 45km may take longer than an hour depending upon what part of the country you are in and how good the road conditions are. The roads are wide open, but quite windy and bumpy…I LOVED DRIVING!!!
Enjoy your trip!

THe murals of Northern Ireland have become symbols of Northern Ireland, depicting the province’s past and present divisions.
Northern Ireland contains arguably the most famous political murals in the world. Almost 2,000 murals have been documented in Northern Ireland since the 1970s. Although the murals more often than not represent one side’s political point of view, they are renowned for their professional nature and the notable level of skill of the artists creating them.
Almost all of the Northern Ireland murals promote either republican or loyalist political beliefs, often glorifying paramilitary groups such as the Provisional Irish Republican Army and the Ulster Volunteer Force, while others commemorate people who have lost their lives in paramilitary or military attacks.
The most famous of the murals in Northern Ireland may well be Free Derry Corner, where the slogan “You Are Now Entering Free Derry” was painted in 1969, shortly after the Battle of the Bogside. However, some do not consider Free Derry Corner to be a true mural as it is only words and not images. Free Derry Corner has been used as a model for other murals in Northern Ireland, including the “You Are Now Entering Loyalist Sandy Row” mural in Belfast, which was a response to the republican message of Free Derry Corner, and the “You Are Now Entering Derry Journal Country” mural, which is an advertisement for a Derry publication.

Dublin 2006
Dublin is the capital city of Ireland and is a beautiful old city, but it is growing fast. We hope that it keeps it old charm while becoming a modern cosmopolitan city. This was the second visit to Dublin for Adele and I, the first for Mike. We got from Dalkey to Dublin by the Dart Line getting off at the Tara Station which is in walking distance from O’Connell Street. The best way to get around Dublin to most of the different sites is the Hop-on Hop-off Tour Bus. Some of the sites we visited are on other Slideshows like Kilmainham Prison, Guinness Brewery, Dublin Castle, Christ Church, and St. Patrick Cathedral. We also visited Trinity College with its Book of Kells and the National Museum of Ireland both do not allow picture taking, but are must sees on any visit to Dublin.
